On Wednesday, Sept. 21, the University of Alabama hosted its first annual Library Expo. The event was held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m in Commons Area located in the Ferguson Student Center. The event was sponsored by University of Alabama Libraries.
At the University of Alabama there are five total libraries available for students to use, with each of them sending a representative to the Expo, to help build exposure for what each library can offer to the students.
At the Expo, there were representatives of different areas of the library, as well as representatives from some of the companies that provide the University’s electronic resources.
“The Library Expo is an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to learn about all the libraries’ collections and services,” said Melissa Green. Green is the academic technologies instruction librarian at the University of Alabama. A more detailed explanation of her job is this according to Green, “Which means I help people use the software on the public computers in the library, as well as helping them with other technology tools offered at the University,” she said.
